MILTON, Mass. -- The Curry College Colonels had nine different players find the scoring column in a 10-5 The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's lacrosse victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon.
Winners of three of their last four, the Colonels up their record to 4-3 overall while earning their first conference win (1-2) of the season. UNE (2-6, 0-3 TCCC) lost for the sixth time in its last seven starts.
Leading 4-1 at the half, Curry blanked the Nor'easters 5-0 in the third period to put the match out of reach. Rob Gardner '10 (South Quincy, Mass.) scored twice over the opening 1:33 of the frame to start the flurry.
The Nor'easters would get the offense going in the fourth quarter, scoring four times. UNE lost despite holding a 43-32 advantage in shots. The Nor'easters came up empty on all eight of their extra-man opportunities.
Paul Marchese '10 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Ryan Rooney '08 (Newton, Mass.) had three assists apiece for Curry. Goalie Alex MacMillan '08 (Framingham, Mass.) came up with an impressive total of 26 saves to register the win.
