Colby-Sawyer topples UNE to reach ECAC final

NEW LONDON, N.H. - Top-seeded Colby-Sawyer College advanced to the finals of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 26-24) sweep of fourth-seeded University of New England on Saturday afternoon at Coffin Field House.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year Michelle Doody had a match-high 10 kills to pace the Chargers (24-12).  Genny Moore set Colby-Sawyer's' powerful attack with 34 assists.

Senior Alex Toregas had seven kills and three total blocks for the Nor'easters (18-15).  Junior Claire Varner had six kills and a team-high 10 digs, while sophomore Kristen Edwards chipped in with six kills and a pair of blocks.  Junior Ellen Choinski handed out 18 assists.

The Nor'easters finish their season at 18-15.  

Colby-Sawyer was upset by Plymouth State University in the championship match.
