Nor'easters win a battle with the Curry Colonels

MILTON, Mass. -- in a match-up of two of The Commonwealth Coast Conference's top teams, the University of New England scored in each half to secure a 2-0 shutout of Curry College in college women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Now 7-1 overall, the win enables the Nor'easters to grab sole possession of second place in the TCCC standings with a 5-0 record (15 points).  Curry (7-3-1 overall) falls into a tie for third place with a 4-2-1 conference mark.

Sophomore Michelle Epstein (Medway, Mass.) opened the scoring in the 17th minute on an assist from junior Ali Trafton (Manchester, Maine).  First-year Katie Caron (Winslow, Maine) set-up classmate Maggie Mahoney (Newburyport, Mass.) for an insurance goal at 67:41, her fourth of the year.

Leigh Engel (Richmondville, N.Y.) made three saves to notch her second shutout.

The Nor'easters will look to make it five straight wins when they head to Weston, Mass. to face Regis College on Tuesday.
