WNEC deals UNE its third consecutive setback

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - First-year Morgan Vogt (Henniker, N.H.) tallied the game-winner 59 seconds into the second half and Western New England College continued to play strong defense in posting a 1-0 decision over visiting University of New England Saturday afternoon.

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Covino (Bristol, Conn.) compiled three saves as the Golden Bears raised their record to 7-11 overall and 6-6 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

WNEC has now captured its last four league outings by shutouts to move into a sixth-place tie with Colby-Sawyer.

Junior keeper Leigh Engel (Richmondville, N.Y.) stopped seven shots for the Nor'easters who fall to 11-4 overall and 9-3 in the conference.

WNEC closes out its regular season at Wentworth on Tuesday.  UNE hosts New England College on Wednesday.
