NEW LONDON, N.H. -- Sophomore Michelle Doody registered a match-high 15 kills as the Colby-Sawyer College Chargers dealt the University of New England Nor'easters their first conference loss with a 3-0 sweep at Coffin Field House.
Colby-Sawyer raised its overall record to 16-8 while improving to 7-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference matches. UNE dropped to the .500 mark (12-12) overall, 6-1 in league play. Set scores were 25-19, 26-24, 25-22.
Senior Alex Toregas had 11 kills and three solo blocks to pace the Nor'easters. Junior Claire Varner and Kristen Edwards each pitched in with six kills. Defensively, sophomore Chelsea Boyle dug out 10 balls.
The Nor'easters are off until Saturday when they will host Babson College and WPI for a tri-match beginning at 11:00 a.m.
