HENNIKER, N.H. – New England College men's soccer opened their home schedule beating the visiting University of New England Nor'easters 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Henniker. The win is the second straight for the Pilgrims improving their record to 2-1-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the TCCC. The loss drops the Nor'easters to 1-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the TCCC.

NEC's Jordan Colonese (Guilford, CT) would continue to stay hot for the Pilgrims scoring the first goal of the game and his fourth of the season off a corner from Peter Koskores (N. Andover, MA) just 10 minutes into the action. Colonese would add another goal scoring off a penalty kick at the 18:06 mark to put the Pilgrims up 2-0.

The UNE defense would tighten up shutting down the Pilgrims for the remainder of the first half sending the game into halftime with a score of 2-0. UNE would come out more aggressive in the second half out shooting the Pilgrims 7-6 but NEC's Peter Koskores would come up with his first goal of the season off a rebound to put the Pilgrims up 3-0. UNE would continue to attack on offense and #Brad Carlson# (Scarborough, ME) would slip a shot just out of the reach of the Pilgrims keeper to score his first goal of the season and make it a 3-1 game. The Pilgrims would settle down late and hold off the UNE offense, capturing the 3-1 win.

Picking up the win in goal for NEC was Nick Kropelin (Jeffersonville, VT) who finished with 4 saves. In goal for UNE was #Derek Poulin# (Scarborough, ME) who turned away 7 Pilgrim shots.

New England College will be back in action on Tuesday, September 11th when they host conference opponent Endicott College at 4:00 p.m. University of New England will take the field next on Saturday, September 15th when they travel to take on conference opponent Nichols College at 2:00 p.m.
