AUGUSTA, Maine -- In a non-conference men's basketball game played at the Augusta Civic Center, forward Adam Choice '10 (Newport, R.I.) and guard Matt Gaudet '08 (Bingham, Maine) combined to score 60 points, leading the Colby College Mules to a 101-82 win over the University of New England Nor'easters.
The number one ranked NCAA III team in the state of Maine, the Mules remain unbeaten (3-0) on the young season. UNE (2-2) suffers its second straight setback.
Both Choice and Gaudet recorded the top scoring performances of their careers at Colby, which shot 55.6 percent (20-for-36) to open up a 48-27 halftime lead. For the game the Mules made 54.4 percent (37 of 68) of their field goal tries and turned the ball over just 10 times.
Choice finished with 31 points, six rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes of playing time. Gaudet was a red-hot 11 of 14 from the floor, including 5-for-6 on 3-point attempts.
Matt Thompson '11 (Plymouth, N.H.) was 7-for-10 from beyond the arc and recorded a team-high 27 points to pace UNE. #Johnnie Jefferson# '09 (Dallas, Texas) scored 13 points, while #Steve Belmonte# '09 (Levittown, N.Y.) scored that same figure to go with six assists.
The Nor'easters, who travel to St. Joseph's College of Maine on Wednesday (7:00 p.m. start), shot 60.0 percent (21 of 35) in the second half.
