BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Jordan Fliegel '08 (Cambridge, Mass.) scored 22 points and hauled down nine rebounds, leading Bowdoin College to a 70-64 non-conference men's basketball win over the University of New England Tuesday evening at Morrell Gymnasium.

With the game knotted at 57-all and 6:40 remaining, the Polar Bears reeled off six consecutive points to seize control.  Paul Sellew '10 (Glastonbury, Conn.) knocked down a pair of free throws to start the spurt, then Fliegel converted a lay-up to push the Bowdoin lead to four (61-57).  Kyle Jackson '09 (Acton, Mass.) capped the run with two free throws.

UNE guard #Johnnie Jefferson# '09 (Dallas, Texas) buried a 3-pointer with 3:15 remaining to slice the deficit in half (63-60), but the Nor'easters would get no closer the rest of the way.

Jefferson poured in a game-high 24 points for the Nor'easters.  He made four shots from beyond the arc.  #Isaac Stickney# '08 (Rumford, Maine) converted 8 of 10 field goal attempts to score 16.

The Nor'easters (2-1) were out-rebounded 39-29, but took great care of the basketball, committing just eight turnovers.
