BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Reserve forward Jason Marks '11 (East Lyme, Conn.) scored twice in the second half, giving the University of New England Nor'easters a 2-0 shutout over Anna Maria College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer match played Saturday afternoon.
The win is the second in the last three matches for the Nor'easters, now 4-8-1 overall and 3-6-1 in TCCC games. The Amcats fall to 4-9-2, 2-7-1 in conference play.
After a fairly even first half of play, Marks made a run down the left side and tucked the ball near-post to score his first collegiate goal and give UNE a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute.
He would add an insurance goal in the 73rd minute when he collected a nifty pass from #Gui Barbosa# '08 (Saco, Maine), dribbled about 15 yards and drilled home a low shot.
#Derek Poulin# '10 (Scarborough, Maine) made seven saves on 13 Anna Maria shots to record his third shutout of the season.
Amcat keeper Scott Burokas '09 (Auburn, Maine) recorded five stops on 11 total UNE shots.
The Nor'easters return to the field Thursday with a road league match with Colby-Sawyer College. Kick-off time is 3:30 p.m. Anna Maria hosts Wentworth Institute of Technology (4:00 p.m.) that same afternoon.
