Carly Gettler was named as the fourth head coach of the UNE women's soccer program in April 2017, and has led the Nor'easters to a 43-29-7 record since (.589). In just her second year, the UNE won the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship out of the third seed, before falling to eventual national champion Williams College in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. 2019 saw a repeat CCC title-winning performance, again, from the third seed.
After no competition in 2020, the Nor'easters posted their highest finish in the CCC standings (2nd) and most league wins (7) since 2011 during the most recent season. Under Gettler, UNE is 20-12-2 in conference outings (.618).

Gettler came to Biddeford after two seasons (2015-16) as assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College [NCAA III], which coincided with both administrative and coaching duties within the Richmond Strikers organization in the Women's Premier Soccer League. She was previously the head coach at Husson University [NCAA III] from 2012-14, guiding the program to an 18-8-1 record in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with appearances in the league semifinals each year. Overall, the Eagles registered 26 victories during her tenure. Additionally, she served as the sports information director and advised the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee while at Husson.
She began her coaching career as a two-year assistant (2010-11) at Mount Holyoke College [NCAA III], while attaining a master's degree in exercise and sport studies from nearby Smith College.
Gettler graduated with a bachelor's degree in leadership studies from the University of Richmond in 2006. She played three seasons of soccer for the Spiders [NCAA I], who captured the Atlantic-10 Conference title and reached the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Division I Championship during Gettler's initial campaign (2002) with the team.
Gettler holds an NSCAA Premier Diploma, an Advanced National Diploma, a National Diploma and a Goalkeeping Level I Diploma. She is a graduate of the inaugural NSCAA 30 Under 30 Program. Gettler has served one three-year term on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee.
The Richmond, Va. native resides in Saco with her husband, Bradley, and infant daughter, Quincy.
