Women's cross country runner Lexie Basiliere has been named the UNE Athlete of the Month for September 2014.
Basiliere won a pair of races (Saint Joseph's Duel, Pop Crowell Invitational) during the period, along with a 4th-place showing at the UNE Invitational and a top-10 finish at the Shacklette Invitational.
The junior's individual victory at the Pop Crowell Invitational came with a 5K time of 19:56, just a fraction of one second ahead of teammate Angel Waters in the field of 149. The Nor'easters won the team portion of the event, and Basiliere was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Runner of the Week for her efforts.
At the season-opening SJC Duel, her 5K time of 20:29 topped the field of runners by 12 seconds in the UNE win.
Basiliere finished 4th out of 140 at UNE Invitational (18:48), helping Big Blue claim another team victory, and she placed 10th out of 124 against a strong Division II field at the Shacklette Invitational (19:35).
