Men's lacrosse player Nick Gross has been named the UNE Athlete of the Month for April 2013.
Gross had at least one point in all eight of UNE's matches during the period, and scored goals in seven of the outings. The junior midfielder totaled 18 markers and five assists in helping the Nor'easters log a 7-1 mark, which included big wins over Colby and Endicott.
Against the Gulls, Gross netted his fourth goal of the game with 1:13 left in regulation, propelling Big Blue to its first victory (10-9) over EC in the last 20 meetings between the teams. His last three scores came in the final period.
Versus the Mules, he accounted for the game-tying goal to start the 2nd quarter and followed with the assist on the go-ahead goal just over a minute later. UNE never trailed again, and held on for a 7-6 triumph.
