Women's basketball player Carrie Bunnell has been selected UNE Athlete of the Month for February.
Bunnell, a senior from Barnet, Vt., scored at a 15.6 point-per-game clip during the period, as the Nor'easters reeled off eight straight wins to begin the month. The shooting guard was lights out from behind the three-point arc, converting 45.5 percent (25-for-55) of her tries from deep.
The stretch also included all three contests of the TCCC Championship, in which Bunnell paced Big Blue with games of 22, 19, and 23 points for a tournament average of 21 per outing. For the month, she went for over 20 points on four occasions.
Bunnell was honored for her play during the TCCC regular-season with a second team all-conference nod, and received the conference Player of the Week title once in the span. She also found her way onto two New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll lists.
On February 12, Bunnell became the 18th player of UNE program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone during a victory at Colby-Sawyer.
