Field Hockey player Michaela Franey has been selected UNE Athlete of the Month for September.
Franey, a senior co-captain from York, Maine, has 11 goals and four assists after the first eight contests of the season. In a 5-2 win over Salve Regina on September 18, she scored a school-record four times, besting the previous mark of three which had been tallied 11 times before. Franey found the back of the net in all but two games, and registered at least a point in all but one match.
With her 11 goals and 26 points in 2010, Franey's career totals in those categories currently rank the midfielder third in program history.
