Women's basketball player Kelley Paradis has been chosen UNE Athlete of the Month for January.

Paradis helped lead the Nor'easters to a 9-1 mark during the period, scoring 12.4 points per game. She also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals over the span. The sophomore from Newport, Maine shot the ball extremely well, making 48.8 percent (39-of-80) from the field and 53.3 percent (16-for-30) from three-point range.

She began the month with two of her better performances, coming against regional powers Bates College and Brandeis University. Against the Bobcats, Paradis went for 18 points and seven boards, and made 4 of 6 attempts from downtown. Versus the Judges, who were ranked as high as No. 9 nationally early in the season, her team-high 20 points helped erase an 18-point first half deficit as UNE got  the win.
