Tristan Durgin has been back at his alma mater since 2009, and became the Director of Sports Information for the 2017-18 academic year, managing all facets of publicity operations for UNE's now 21 varsity sports.

He held the post of interim director for a year and a half spanning 2011-12, while otherwise serving as the University's first assistant director of sports information. Additionally, he coordinated event operations for the department from 2012-19. Over the years in Biddeford, Durgin also spent time as an advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the equipment manager, and was an adjunct professor for the Sport Management major at UNE.

In June 2024, he was appointed to the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Committee, which oversees the administration of the national championship, for a term that ends in 2028.

Durgin had previously served on the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Committee from 2020-23, following a stint representing the Commonwealth Coast Conference on the Northeast Regional Advisory Committee for men's golf from 2017-20.

Aside from the University's sports information, he spent three seasons (2013-15) on the selection committee for the ECAC Division III New England Field Hockey Championship, served as statistician for the final rounds of the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship, and coordinating publicity for both the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches & Writers Association (2009-13) and the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championships (2010-13). Within the sports information profession, he is a member of the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) and the Eastern Athletic Communications Association (formerly ECAC-SIDA).

As a student at UNE, Durgin led the golf team in scoring average during three of his four years (2003-06) -- which were split under current administrator, Curt Smyth, and current head coach, Kasey Keenan. The two-year captain logged an average of 77.5 in 2005, which stands as the fourth-best single-season mark in program history. That year, he also became the first player at UNE to card sub-80 scores in every competitive round of the campaign. While attaining a bachelor's degree in sport management, he served as SAAC President and was also a student member of the University's Athletics Advisory Committee.

In the year following his 2007 graduation from UNE, Durgin worked at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). The Walpole, Maine native then went back to school (Endicott College) and earned a master's degree in sport management in 2010.
