1st year (2026-27)
Mike Napoli followed head coach Adam Reeb to UNE to serve as the full-time assistant coach of the UNE tennis programs, which enter their second year of competition in 2026-27.
Napoli rejoined Reeb in 2025-26 with the Colby College men's tennis team [NCAA III], after assisting Reeb with both Mules teams in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
In between those stints at Colby, Napoli returned to the University of California-Santa Cruz [NCAA III] to assist the Banana Slugs on the men's side from 2021-24. During the 2022-23 campaign, though, he served as interim head coach, led the team to the NCAA championship, and was named as the Coast-To-Coast Conference Coach of the Year.
He had previously been at head men's coach at UCSC from 2015-18, and guided the program into the NCAA field multiple times. Along the way, he mentored nine All-Americans and the squad achieved a top-20 national ranking.
Prior to Santa Cruz, Napoli was the head coach of men's and women's tennis at Ave Maria University [NAIA], with a nationally-ranked women's program, and spent 24 years as the head women's coach Cuesta College [CCCAA], where his teams secured 14 Western State Conference titles and posted a record of 190-20, and he earned 10 Coach of the Year honors. Napoli was the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Women's Coach of the Year in 2009, and inducted into the California Community Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013.
He was an assistant coach at the College of William & Mary [NCAA I], Florida Gulf Coast University [NCAA I], and California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo [NCAA II/I], and was part of the Cal Poly staff that helped the men's team to the 1990 national title.
Napoli competed at nationally-ranked California State University-Chico [NCAA II] in the 1970s, collecting all-conference accolades in singles and doubles. He then played professionally into the 1980s.
