Prior to UNE: three-sport athlete at Haddam-Killingworth High School... three years of varsity soccer, including captain as a senior and Most Improved Player as a sophomore... four seasons of varsity swimming, with two years as captain... also played lacrosse.

Personal: her parents are Elizabeth Mutch and Steven Bates... majoring in nursing... member of the Student Nursing Association and Scuba Club... active with Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity.
