Personal: her parents are Jodi and Peter Barkas... a biochemistry major, with minors in applied mathematics and biology... member of UNE's Chemistry Club... her father was a swimmer at Clemson University.
Prior to UNE: swam for three years while at Scarborough High School... served as captain her senior year... was named team MVP her junior and senior seasons.
