Personal: the son of Jane Kerr-Fernandez and Luis Fernandez... majoring in marine science, with a minor in coaching.

Prior to UNE: two years of varsity cross country, and four of both indoor track and outdoor track, while at Triton Regional High School (Mass.)... two-time state medalist in cross country... between both versions of track, eight-time league champion (4 relays) and eight-time state medalist (4 relays), recipient of the league's Athlete of the Year, and Newburyport Daily News Athlete of the Year... four-time team captain.
