After two seasons, Ryder has amassed an impressive 29-14 record and has taken the Nor'easters deep into the postseason twice. This past year, UNE made it to the semifinals of both the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, as well as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Championship.
In 2011, she was voted by her peers as CCC Coach of the Year in just her first season leading the UNE field hockey squad, as Big Blue racked up a program-record 18 wins against just four losses in 2011, and a share of the CCC regular-season crown (9-1).
While reeling off 13 victories to open the year, the Nor'easters garnered a two-week stint in the national NFHCA coaches poll (as high as No. 19) -- the first UNE team to ever be ranked. Big Blue reached their highest-ever NCAA regional ranking (2nd) as well. The season came to a close with two heartbreaking overtime setbacks in the conference final (2-1 to Endicott) and an ECAC semifinal (2-1 in 2OT to Mount Holyoke).
Ryder now sits on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee for the New England East Region -- a term that will take her through the 2014 season.
She was previously an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I University of Vermont, and before that, Ryder was an assistant coach for two seasons at NCAA Division III Tufts University. Ryder is credited with playing a significant role in the transformation and development of the Jumbos' defense during that time, as Tufts compiled a 37-4 record with consecutive appearances at the NCAA Division III Final Four.
The Gloucester, Mass. native is a 2008 graduate of Stonehill College, where she attained a bachelor's degree in psychology. She was a three-time member of the Northeast-10 all-academic team. As a goalkeeper for the Skyhawks, she earned all-conference accolades and graduated as the program's career leader in shutouts.
As she moved on to coach at Tufts, Ryder also earned a master's degree in child development from the institution in 2010.
Additionally, Ryder serves as director of Revolution Field Hockey Camps in Lake Forest, Ill. and Concord, Mass.
