Cowles is back for her 3rd season as assistant coach of the field hockey team -- a program for which she captained and started in 65 of 66 games played from 2006-09. She also works for the College of Osteopathic Medicine at UNE and is the Fitness Director of the U-ExCEL program for the Department of Geriatric Medicine.

As a student-athlete for the Nor'easters, Cowles was a first-team all-CCC selection in 2009 and earned the CCC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year distinction, while Big Blue claimed the program's first ECAC title. For the 2009-10 academic year, she was named the conference's Woman of the Year.

Primarily a defensive player on the field, she does share the third-best single-game points mark (8) in UNE history, going for three goals and two assists against Regis during her senior season.

A 2010 graduate from the University with a bachelor's degree in applied exercise science, Cowles is currently working on a master's degree in public health at UNE.
