AUGUSTA, Maine -- The University of New England women's tennis team captured six sets by 6-0 margins and rolled past the University of Maine-Augusta, 7-0, on Sunday (Sep. 27) at the Kennebec Valley Tennis Association.
The Nor'easters (5-3) did not drop a frame along the way, starting with a 6-2 win by
Madeline Frank and
Nora Hill at #1 doubles.
Alyssa Fritschka and
Olivia Crooker took care of business at #3 doubles (6-2), and
Grace Catalano and
Leanna Matczak kept things going at #2 doubles (6-3).
Andie Lamontagne blanked her opponent at #3 singles (6-0, 6-0), as did Crooker at #6 singles. Catalano secured UNE's third full point at #4 singles (6-2, 6-0), before Frank at #1 singles sealed the overall contest with a 6-2, 6-1 result.
Hill added a 6-0, 6-4 win at #2 singles, and Fritschka came in with a 6-2, 6-1 outcome at #5 singles to round out the afternoon.
Next up for the Nor'easters will be a home date with Husson University on Thursday (3 p.m.).
