BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country group ran to a ninth-place finish out of 12 institutions at the Maine Championship on Saturday (Sep. 19) around the campus of Bowdoin College.
Bates College narrowly captured the team title by scoring 42, with the leading 8K effort (25:09) from Nathaniel Aronson among the 157 racers. The University of Maine (47) and Colby College (52) weren't far behind the Bobcats.
The Nor'easters (267) received scoring points from
Troy Silvestri (73rd; 28:09),
Thomas Hoff (91st; 28:56),
Michael Erickson (102nd; 29:26),
Isaiah Cyr (119th; 31:20), and
CJ McDonald (120th; 31:24).
"This was a solid first 8K for the men's team this season," said UNE head coach Kourtney Bonsey. "Alex Garron really stepped up and had a great day as our sixth runner, too. With a little more training put in over the next two weeks, I think this team can be much stronger at Keene State."
UNE will resume its schedule on October 3 at the KSC Invitational.
