BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England Director of Athletics Heather Davis announced on Wednesday (July 22) that Adam Reeb has been hired as the head coach of the men's tennis and women's tennis squads as they enter into year two of varsity competition.

"I am so pleased to bring in Adam to guide our tennis programs at such a pivotal point in their growth," said Davis. "He joins us with an extensive background in coaching high-level collegiate tennis, including multiple instances of leading men's and women's teams simultaneously. Add in his experiences competing at the Division I level, and he will be a great resource and mentor for our student-athletes as we continue to build these programs."

Reeb comes to UNE from Colby College, where he has been since 2018. For the first four years of his tenure, he was the head coach of both the men's and women's teams, and then was just with the men during the last four. Reeb led the men to an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national ranking as high as No.19 and the women to No.22, and took singles All-America honorees to the NCAA Division III singles championship on both sides. Between the programs, he worked with 14 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) all-league performers. His student-athletes were recognized with various awards, including the ITA National Most Improved Player, ITA Regional Rookie of the Year, and NESCAC Rookie of the Year, and Reeb himself was noted as the USPTA New England College Coach of the Year in 2019.

For three years (2015-18), he was the head coach at NCAA Division I Seattle University, where he had eight all-conference performers on the women's side, as well as the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Freshman of the Year. Similar to Colby, Reeb was highlighted as the USPTA Pacific Northwest College Coach of the Year in 2016.

Reeb guided NCAA Division II McKendree University to the men's national team championship in his first of two seasons (2013-15) and mentored five all-conference players between the genders. Before that, he got his head coaching start with one year at Lindenwood University [NAIA]. Reeb entered the profession in 2009 as an assistant with the McKendree men, and then returned to his alma mater -- Saint Louis University -- for two years as an assistant for both the men and women.

He played four seasons of tennis for the NCAA Division I Billikens (2005-09), and the two-year captain graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He then earned a master's degree from the U.S. Sports Academy in 2010.

Reeb, whose family lives in Southern Maine, is thrilled about getting things going in Biddeford.

"I am honored and grateful to be given the opportunity to lead the University of New England men's and women's tennis teams, and I want to thank Heather Davis for this amazing opportunity," Reeb shared. "There is an exciting energy here at UNE and tremendous leadership across the University. These programs had a great start last year, and I will work tirelessly to give our student-athletes the best experience possible and continue that growth. I can't wait to get started working with the entire Nor'easter team!"

The UNE women will begin preseason activities in mid-August, leading up to the September 1 season-opener at Thomas College.
