Olivia Chase launched the hammer well past her previous program mark to lead the University of New England women's track & field team to a 3rd-place showing out of seven institutions at the University of Hartford's Rage in the Cage Invitational on Friday (Apr. 3).
Chase surpassed her effort from last week by 1.50 meters on her first throw of the day, registering 47.49 in total distance (155 feet, 10 inches) to win the event. Currently, it is the 34th-ranked performance in Division III this season.
Gianna Rodriguez also generated a school record in the 3,000 meter race, with an 11:19.55 to best the time of
Kelsee Gladu by 12 seconds. Rodriguez took third against that field, and
Sky Anderson claimed second in the 1,500, posting 4:56.94. Anderson's time was the fastest at UNE in four years; the only individual faster remains Jasmine Syed.
