WENHAM, Mass. -- Kenzie Cleary picked up one bronze medal in the javelin throw as the University of New England competed in the 2026 Conference of New England (CNE) Women's Track & Field Championships, which finished competition on Saturday (Apr. 25) at the campus of Gordon College.

The Nor'easters placed eighth out of 10 institutions with 27 points. At the front of the pack was the University of Hartford (181), followed by Gordon (145) and Johnson & Wales University (125.5).

Cleary made it four straight years that a UNE athlete medaled in the javelin, registering a distance of 34.74 meters for 3rd. She also earned points in the shot put, placing 7th with a mark of 10.81 meters.

Maya Brochu wound up just off the podium in the 5,000-meter race, clocking a time of 18:25.98 to take 4th.

Julia Chase set the CNE Championship standard for UNE in the high jump, with a height of 1.56 meters. Last year's bronze medalist cleared the bar in a four-way tie for second before tiebreakers were applied, ending 5th.

A pair of school records fell on the track, with Emily Buchter and Katherine Ishihara. Buchter reset her own school in the 100 meters, which was 13.15 a week ago, and the senior lowered it to 13.02 seconds. For Ishihara, the rookie took more than one second off of her personal best in the 400 meters and clipped the previous mark by 0.27 (held by Erica Dimmick, from 2022), clocking 1:01.83.

The program now has 39 medals in six years of existence -- eight gold, 16 silver, and 15 bronze. CNE all-conference honors for the season are reflected in finishing among the top three in events -- 1st Team, 2nd Team, and 3rd Team, respectively. Major awards will be announced in the coming days.

Other performances earning points for the team: The Nor'easters will have several individuals competing next weekend in the New England Championships at Springfield College, based on qualifying marks from the season.
