UNE downs Gordon in regular season finale, 21-10

Statistics

WENHAM, Mass. – 10 different players from the University of New England women's lacrosse team found the back of the net as the Nor'easters cruised to a 21-10 Conference of New England victory over Gordon College in Wednesday's regular season finale at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

Sydney Balotin, in addition to her three goals and two assists, recorded seven draw controls, and now has a program-best 264 in her career, topping Morgan White's previous mark of 261.

Molly Henderson, now with double-digit points in two of her last three games, dished out seven of UNE's 15 total assists. That's the highest single-game assist total from a Nor'easter since Brooke Kelleher's program-best eight against Nichols in 2017.

Chloe Ryan paced UNE (8-7, 6-4) in the scoring column with four goals, matching her career high. Balotin, Henderson and Halle Huizenga each scored three, while Ashlyn Lesure and Ella Cloutier rounded out those with multigoal performances. Lesure's second-quarter goal was the first of her career. Kaylee Lucas also netted a career-first, tacking on the Nor'easters' 19th early in the fourth quarter.

Nine of Gordon's 10 goals came from three players, including Hannah Rose, who hauled in a team-best six draw controls.

The Fighting Scots (0-15, 0-11) quickly answered an early UNE tally, but the Nor'easters wound up rolling to an 11-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Those 11 goals, which proved to be all UNE needed, included an 8-0 run.

Three different goalkeepers saw action for the Nor'easters, starting with Olivia Ferraro – she handled the first half and made a pair of saves. Katie Roland and Eliese Latham split time in the second half.

UNE, as the fifth seed, will head to No. 4 Hartford for a first-round matchup in the 2026 Conference of New England Women's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m. Hartford bested UNE in overtime, 12-11, during the regular season meeting on April 11.
