STANDISH, Maine --
Julia Chase matched her recent school record in the high jump and registered the program's second-longest triple jump effort as the University of New England track & field squad continued to work through the season at the Saint Joseph's College Monks Invitational on Saturday (Apr. 11).
Chase took 1st-place in the high jump with the 1.58-meter height, which was already good enough to qualify for the New England Championships in May. Additionally, she now holds two of the top three triple jumps at UNE, with attempts that traveled 10.23 and 10.19 meters -- the program mark is 10.36.
Three other Nor'easters captured events on the day, including
Olivia Chase in the hammer throw (45.10 meters; already a NE qualifier).
Sylvie DiBartolomeo was tops in the 5,000-meter race (19:41.16), while
Maya Brochu led the 10,000 meters (41:07.85). Brochu and
Gianna Rodriguez are only the third and fourth UNE athletes to ever compete in the race.
Katherine Ishihara had a 2nd-place finish in the 400 meters with a personal-best (1:03.19), and
Emily Buchter tied the fourth-fastest 100-dash time at UNE (13.34) to wind up third.
The Nor'easters had two of the top three javelin throwers on the day, as
Kenzie Cleary (2nd) and
Sarah LaVita (3rd) recorded distances of 35.82 and 33.05 meters, respectively. In the shot put, Cleary was also third with a mark of 10.58 meters, while
Emma Mini logged a personal-best 10.48 to take fourth.
UNE will now prepare for the Maine Pine Tree Classic on Friday and Saturday at Bates College -- the final tune-up before the 2026 Conference of New England Championships in two weeks.
