Nor'easters compete at Regis, Tufts

WESTON, Mass. -- Kenzie Cleary registered a school record and New England Championships qualifying mark in the javelin throw to pace the University of New England Women's Track & Field squad at the Regis College Spring Classic on Friday (Apr. 10).

Cleary won the event with a top distance of 38.14 meters for a personal-best by 2.41 and the UNE mark by 0.72 meters. Second in the competition was Sarah LaVita -- the previous record-holder, who had the best 10 throws in the discipline ending the day.

LaVita secured a 1st-place of her own by spinning the discus 36.68 meters, which reaffirmed a previous qualification for New Englands. Similarly, Olivia Chase took second in the hammer throw with a mark of 44.24 meters.

LaVita also led the Nor'easters in the shot put, claiming second place on the day with a 10.71-meter effort. Emma Mini was third at 10.20 meters.
 

Results

MEDFORD, Mass. -- Later in the evening, Sally Kelton and Sky Anderson raced in the 5,000 meters at the Tufts University Spring Invitational. Kelton clocked the fifth-best time in UNE history -- second only to Nina Parziale -- with an 18:20.94 that wound up in 10th position.

Anderson was just over seven seconds and four spots back with a time of 18:28.05.
