BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England held a 12-8 halftime lead before pulling away in the second half, outscoring Suffolk University 7-2 in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's Conference of New England women's lacrosse matchup on Blue Bolt Field, to cruise to a 21-11 victory – the Nor'easters' fourth straight.

Sydney Balotin's career-high seven goals lit up the scoreboard for UNE (5-4, 3-1). The senior, who also tacked on two assists, scored five first-half goals, including one that narrowly beat the halftime buzzer (Watch). Her contributions did not end in the scoring column, either, having racked up a game-high seven draw controls.

Molly Henderson's five goal performance was another career high for the Nor'easters. She, like Balotin, also registered a pair of assists.

Suffolk (5-6, 2-3) was paced by five goals from Zoe Peckham, who scored four in the first half, but was quieted in the second. The Rams were scoreless from the 8:36 mark of the third until 6:48 remained in the fourth. That cold spell for the visitors made room for a 4-0 UNE run, including back-to-back scores from Balotin, that eventually had UNE closing in on a double-digit lead. The 10-goal margin did not come to fruition until the final 18 seconds, when Ella Cloutier netted her third of the day.

Despite the Nor'easters racing to a 5-1 first-quarter lead, Suffolk hung around for the remainder of the first half, trailing only 6-4 heading into the second frame, where UNE scored three goals in the first five minutes to increase the lead to 9-4. A three-goal margin before Balotin's last-second tally to end the first half was as close as the Rams would get for the rest of the evening.

Olivia Ferraro made five saves for UNE, and Katie Roland entered in the fourth quarter for her first collegiate action, finishing with two saves and one goal allowed. Suffolk's Charlotte Guziejka finished with seven saves.

21 goals were UNE's most since a 22-4 win over Curry on April 2, 2024. Balotin's seven were two shy of matching the program record for single-game goals.

The Nor'easters look for their fifth straight win on Saturday, April 4, visiting Nichols at 4 p.m.
