WENHAM, Mass. --
Olivia Chase improved upon her school record in the hammer throw, and
Sarah LaVita won the discus, as four University of New England throwers competed at the Jon Tymann Invitational in women's track & field action on the campus of Gordon College on Friday (Mar. 27).
Chase's best attempt in the hammer was seven inches better than her top mark from last season, sailing 45.99 meters (150-11 feet) to claim second place on the day. Based on the distance, she'll head to the 2026 New England Championships later in the spring.
LaVita will also eventually make her way to the regional event, after logging 35.98 meters (118-0 feet) in the discus to top the field of challengers from nearly 20 institutions.
