Results

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Julia Chase knocked off the University of New England women's track & field record in the high jump as the full team competed outside for the first time on Saturday (Mar. 28) at the Corsair Classic on the campus of the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth.

Chase sprung over the bar set at 1.58 meters (5-2.25 feet) to clear the previous school standard by 0.01 (0.5 inches), which had been established by Anna Evans in 2023. Chase -- who placed third in the event -- also qualified for the 2026 New England Championships with the effort. She entered her sophomore campaign with a personal-best of 1.56 meters.

Three other Nor'easters posted top-3 ranks on the day, against competitors from 12 institutions. Sarah LaVita did it twice, including first place in the discus throw (37.09m) and third place in the shot put (10.73m). She also took fourth in the javelin (34.99). LaVita's distance in the discus was the third-best in the program records, more than one meter further than Friday at Gordon, when she booked a spot at New Englands. She'll also head to the postseason championship in the javelin.

Sally Kelton turned in a second-place performance in the 1,500 race (5:04.46), and Kenzie Cleary wound up third in the javelin (35.73).

Emily Buchter also clocked 13.39 for fourth in the 100-meter dash.

Cleary's javelin distance makes her the second-ranked individual in program history, behind LaVita (x10). Similarly, Katherine Ishihara registered 1:04.23 in the 400 meters, becoming the second-fastest individual, behind Erica Dimmick.

On Friday, UNE will head to the Rage in the Gage Invite at the University of Hartford.
