BIDDEFORD, Maine -- No.14 Endicott College received three points from Maggie Holt and defeated the University of New England by a 4-1 margin in Conference of New England (CNE) women's ice hockey action Saturday afternoon (Feb. 14) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

Holt had the only goal of the 1st period, pinging the top-left corner in transition, and then the Gulls (17-4-2, 13-2-1 CNE) netted a power-play score through a screen from Jo Wimler to make it 2-0 with 12 minutes gone in the 2nd.

The teams were skating four per side late in the frame when the Nor'easters (10-13-1, 6-10-1) trimmed the gap to one with 1:19 left. Jamie DuPont chased the puck into the offensive zone and pulled it back for Adria Tebo, who slid it across to Hannah Humes in the high slot for a slinging wrister. Humes rang the crossbar, and the rebound dropped straight down for DuPont to punch home her team-leading seventh goal.

However, just 29 seconds later, Teaghan Hall responded for Endicott to restore the two-goal cushion.

The visitors didn't leave much room for a UNE rally, as shot attempts were 23-3 in the final period. An insurance goal on the power play came with less than five minutes on the clock, as Lilly Corso put a deflection on a try by Wimler.

Casey Moritz backstopped the EC win with 20 saves, while her counterpart for the Nor'easters, Danielle DeJon, logged 37 saves.

Mackenzie O'Leary and Jamie Ryan contributed to nearly half of the 16 blocked shots for UNE, which wraps up the regular season next Saturday at Western New England University. The Nor'easters, who haven't seen the Golden Bears since the opening weekend of league play in November, currently hold the fourth spot in the standings -- two points behind third, and five ahead of fifth, with everyone else also playing on Friday.
