Maeve McDermott and
Tess Zurawski each notched three first-place finishes as the University of New England women's swimming team concluded the regular season with a non-scoring meet on Saturday (Jan. 31) at Webber Pool on the campus of Husson University.
McDermott topped the 50-breast (33.35), 50-fly (28.98), and 100-IM (1:04.89), while Zurawski led the way in the 50-back (31.06), 100-back (1:06.65), and 500-free (5:58.63).
Payton Walmsley also picked up a win in the 100-breast (1:16.13).
Emily Gilliam came up with season-best times to wind up just behind McDermott and Walmsley in the 50-breast (33.97; +0.62) and 100-breast (1:16.44; +0.31).
Mya Peters was second to Zurawski in the 500-free (6:00.56; +1.93), and
Bella Shrewsbury was runner-up to McDermott in the 50-fly (30.56; +1.58). Shrewsbury was also 0.43 off the pace in the 100-free (1:00.92).
Lily Stam clocked a season-best 28.13 in the 50-free, which was 0.19 behind the top spot.
The group of Shrewsbury, McDermott,
Emmy Hinson, and
Regina Dyer combined for 2:02.61 to win the 200-medley relay.
UNE now has a couple of weeks to fine tune things before heading to the 2026 Little East Conference (LEC) Championships.
