Nor'easters drop a pair at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England women's rugby team fell to Bowdoin College in a pair of 10s contests on Saturday (Oct. 31), dropping the first by a score of 29-0, followed by a 20-0 decision on the Polar Bears' Senior Day at Pickard Field.

The Nor'easters struggled to maintain possession early, thanks in part to Bowdoin's quick defensive line speed and tenacity at the breakdowns.

As the matches progressed, UNE made a number of small adjustments and was able to string together solid phases of offensive play but were still unable to dot it down against the Polar Bears.

"We struggled early on, but really made some solid adjustments throughout the day," said UNE head coach Ashley Potvin. "There were some great moments of high-quality play that emerged as we were forced to hit rucks faster, distribute the ball faster, and make quicker and better decisions."

The Nor'easters will wrap up their fall season next Sunday (Nov. 8) when they host Salve Regina University in an 11 a.m. start at Blue Storm Stadium.
