HARTFORD, Conn. -- The University of New England, headlined by a 3rd-place effort from Maya Brochu, put four individuals in the top 12 and came away with runner-up status from the 2026 Conference of New England (CNE) Women's Cross Country Championship, which was held at Keney Park on Saturday (Oct. 31).

It was UNE's first second-place team showing since 2022 -- the Nor'easters have now 15 firsts or seconds in 27 all-time conference meets.

Johnson & Wales University, which took eighth last year, won its first title with a score of 36. Included in that number was individual champion, Amanda Intrieri, who completed the 6K course in 21:59 for a 12-second win over the next closest of the 107 runners.

The Nor'easters (49), Suffolk University (67), and Endicott College (99) followed the Wildcats out of the field of 10 institutions.

Brochu clocked 22:56 to lead UNE for a second straight season -- the only scoring senior. Marina Violette (6th; 23:40), Sylvie DiBartolomeo (10th; 24:19), and Sky Anderson (12th; 24:25) also finished in the mix to earn all-conference honors, which will be certified alongside the major awards on Wednesday.

Madelyn Hutchins (18th; 24:47) rounded out the team total, with fellow first-year Mae Butler not far behind (24th).

The Nor'easters are back in action in two weeks at the NCAA Division III East Championship, running at the nearby Wainwright Complex in South Portland.
