KEENE, N.H. -- The University of New England women's cross country team posted an impressive sixth place finish out of 27 teams at the Keene State Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 3).
The Nor'easters were the first non-NESCAC or NEWMAC finisher, totaling 209 points. Williams College (33), Bowdoin College (54) and Tufts University (138) held down the first three spots.
First-year
Marina Violette was the first Nor'easter to cross the finish line, registering a six-kilometer time of 22:34 to place 15th.Â
Maya Brochu (23rd - 22:51),
Sylvie DiBartolomeo (33rd - 23:10),
Sky Anderson (44th - 23:31) and
Mae Butler (116th - 24:53) rounded out the UNE scoring contingent.
"I'm happy with how the team competed against some very strong competition today," commented UNE head coach Kourtney Bonsey. "Sylvie had a great race and proved her strength at the 6K distance. We race against some of the best teams in the country next time out, and I think our team is ready to make a statement there."
After a week off, the Nor'easters return to action Oct. 17 at the Connecticut College Invitational.
