KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- Led by a round of 74 from Owen Lee, the University of New England men's golf team collected its first tournament win of the year on Thursday (Oct. 1) in the UNE Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club. The Nor'easters topped the three-squad field with a score of 307.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine took second place at 315 -- guided by a 74 out of AJ Davis -- and Southern Maine Community College finished in third with 316. SMCC's Andrew Goulet logged the only sub-par front or back nine on the day (one-under 33 on the back) and closed with a 71 (+2) to edge out Lee and Davis for the individual title.

Lee had an 11-hole stretch in the middle of his round that he played at three-under-par on the way to his season-best score. Sean Zerega pared holes two through 10 and birdied the last for a 76 that was good for 4th place out of the 21 competitors. Sean Guerrette took just one small blemish on the front side (36, second-best in the field), and settled at 77 in a share of 5th position.

Noah Fay completed the UNE team total with an 80.

As an individual, Patrick Brierley represented the Nor'easters with a top-10 effort (81) that included three birdies in a span of five holes in the middle of his round.

"It was a fun day for the men, and awesome to have the entire roster get the opportunity to compete on such an incredible golf course that we call home," commented UNE head coach Kasey Keenan. "A huge thank you to the Cape Arundel staff for having us, and the course is in fantastic condition. The scoring team picked up their first win of the season and we feel like we are gaining momentum at the right time. The coaching staff was thrilled for Owen, our senior captain, to come away with T-2 on his own ball."

UNE will look to continue the positive swing thoughts this weekend at the 2026 Conference of New England (CNE) Men's Golf Championship, which starts Saturday (11 a.m.) at Blackledge Country Club in Connecticut.
