UNE challenges at the Southern Maine Cup

Results

PORTLAND, Maine -- All three pairs for the University of New England men's golf team posted even-par totals on Saturday (Sep. 6) at the modified-format Southern Maine Cup (USM), which ended early at Riverside Golf Course when inclement weather suspended play.

Traditionally an untraditional event that breaks away from the traditional collegiate golf scoring model, with an 18-hole round consisting of three formats -- six holes of scramble, six holes of alternate shot, and six holes of best ball. The last group on Saturday completed 13 holes, so all of the teams were reduced to reflect that progress into the back nine.

UNE's duos of Ben Donahue and Owen Lee, Sean Guerrette and Noah Fay, and Tim Melley and Jimmy Hulland each finished in a tie for 5th out of 15 groups, two shots behind three USM pairs (-2).

The Nor'easters resume their schedule next Saturday in the Husson Invitational at Bangor Municipal Golf Course.
