CASCO, Maine -- The University of New England women's golf team finished 4th from the field of five programs at the John Queenan Memorial hosted by Saint Joseph's College on Wednesday (Sep. 3) at Point Sebago Golf Course.

Instead of counting the traditional low four scores for the team total, the event calculated squad scores based on three individual rounds. Southern Maine Community College posted 269 to claim the title, ahead of the University of Southern Maine (286, Husson University (288), the Nor'easters (291), and the hosts Monks (320).

Twenty-four competitors teed it up on the par 72 track, with Grace Thompson of SMCC notching a three-shot win after a 79.

Transfer Abby Flanagan led UNE with an 89, which was good for a share of 3rd place. Amanda Forziati supplied a 93 and placed 6th, while Ella Lemieux rounded out the team score with a 109 in her Nor'easter debut.

Next up for UNE will be a visit to Riverside Golf Club on Saturday for the modified-format Southern Maine Cup.
