CUMBERLAND, Maine --
Amanda Forziati had an eagle on the par-5 14th hole and carded a 78 to pace the University of New England women's golf team in a 2nd-place showing out of four institutions at Southern Maine Community College's Seawolf Shootout, which was contested on Friday (Sep. 26) at Val Halla Golf Course.
Instead of counting the traditional low four scores for a team, the event factored in just three per institution. SMCC came out on top at 242, ahead of the Nor'easters (261) and Husson University (269).
Forziati tied for the leading individual in the field of 16 with the six-over-par round, alongside SMCC's Charlotte Blanchard. Those two were four strokes in front of the next closest competitors (82), which included
Abby Flanagan, who drained three birdies on the day.
Ella Lemieux chipped in with 101 to finish the team score.
The Nor'easters are less than two weeks away (Oct. 9) from hosting the UNE Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunkport, which will be the final prep for the inaugural Conference of New England (CNE) Women's Golf Championship on October 11.
