UNE runs at State Championship meet

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of New England men's cross country squad finished in ninth position out of the 13 programs that raced at the Maine Championship on the campus of Bowdoin College on Saturday (Sep. 20).

Bates College placed five runners in the top 10 and posted 28 points to win the event over Division I University of Maine (48) and the host Polar Bears (66). Bowdoin's Seamus McDonough crossed the line with an 8K time of 25:46 for first place in the field of 143 competitors.

The Nor'easters (237 points) generated their team score behind the efforts of Troy Silvestri (47th; 27:47), Thomas Hoff (71st; 28:56), Jackson Stone (72nd; 28:57), Michael Erickson (78th; 29:29), and Edward Iannuzzi-Sucich (95th; 30:56).

UNE resumes its schedule on October 4 at the Keene State College Invitational.
