BANGOR, Maine -- Powered by rounds of 75 and 77 from
Abby Flanagan and
Amanda Forziati, the University of New England women's golf team posted a runner-up finish out of five squads at the Husson University Invitational, which was played at Bangor Municipal Golf Course on Saturday (Sep. 13).
Following up Bates College (308) and medalist Sarah Wicks, the Nor'easters chopped 50 strokes off of the program's previous best four-player score and logged 355 to edge out the host Eagles (357). The University of Southern Maine (395) and Saint Joseph's College (426) rounded out the field.
Wicks notched a 1-over-par 72 for a three-stroke win as an individual, while Flanagan shared 2nd place and Forziati was 5th out of the 30 competitors. Flanagan's collegiate low included an eagle on the par-5 4th hole, and Forziati's personal-best (by 5) featured three birdies.
Danielle DeJon birdied the final hole and shaved 20 strokes off of last week's first-ever competitive round to add 101 for the Nor'easters.Â
Eadie Nadeau registered 102 to complete the team score -- it was also a collegiate-low for the second-year player.
UNE will next be at Gordon College on September 24.
