HARTFORD, Conn. --
Olivia Chase reset her day-old program record in the hammer throw for the University of New England women's track & field team on Sunday (Apr. 6), as the University of Hartford hosted the Rage in the Cage Invitational at the Grant Family Track.
After raising the standard by 3.34 meters on Saturday at Gordon College, each of Chase's last three attempts cleared that mark of 43.75. Two even surpassed 45 meters, including the new record of 45.83.
The Nor'easters placed fifth out of seven institutions on the day -- two of which were from Division II.
Following up Chase's first-place effort,
Cheyenne Cahill was second in the shot put (11.15m).
Sarah LaVita was second in the javelin (32.98m), third in the discus (34.76m), and sixth in the shot put (10.10m).
Emilie Bell added fourth place in the discus (31.03m).
On the running side,
Emily Buchter placed sixth in the 100-meter race (13.43).
Izabella Haagenson contributed seventh points with third in the 400 hurdles (1:12.80) and eighth in the 100 hurdles (17.40); the time in the 100 was the fourth-fastest for the program's record-holder in the event.
UNE will have select individuals at the Bucknell University Outdoor Classic next weekend, while most of the squad will be at Saint Joseph's College on Friday and Saturday.
