WENHAM, Mass. -- Olivia Chase shattered her own school record in the hammer throw to cap the day as the University of New England women's track & field team competed in Gordon College's Jon Tymann Invitational on Saturday (Apr. 5) at the Brigham Athletic Complex.

Each of Chase's three scoring throws surpassed the 40.41 meter distance she logged last season; after her second try traveled 41.25, the fourth landed all the way at 43.75. That mark was good for second place in the event, and qualified Chase for the 2025 New England Championships.

Sarah LaVita claimed a pair of first place finishes, in the discus (34.78m) and javelin (32.73m). She also took fourth in the shot put (10.19m), which was won by Cheyenne Cahill with a distance of 11.19 meters.

The Nor'easters received solid throwing performances from Kassidy Plummer in both the discus (2nd; 31.97m) and hammer (4th; 33.24m), as well as Grace Shippee in the discus (4th; 30.20m) and Melody Pradhan in the hammer (5th; 31.30m).

UNE will participate at the University of Hartford on Sunday.
