STANDISH, Maine -- The University of New England women's track & field team tallied eight top-four places while competing at the Monks Invitational hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Friday (Apr. 11).
Corinna Hobbs and
Jessie Martin raced to the top spots in the 3,000 steeplechase and 5,000 meters, respectively. Hobbs did the steeplechase in a personal-best 12:34.18, while Martin clocked 18:40.78 in the 5,000 to edge teammate
Kelsee Gladu by 1.45 seconds.
Sarah LaVita was just shy of her program record mark in the discus, with a far throw of 36.39m that took third place.
Cheyenne Cahill was also third in the shot put with a distance of 11.17m, and LaVita notched another high finish (fourth) on the field side of things with a 32.91m in the javelin.
Izabella Haagenson had a busy day, challenging in five different events, and collected a fourth-place showing in the 400m hurdles (1:14.36). Additionally, she posted 17.68 in the 100 hurdles; Haagenson now holds five of the six fastest times at UNE.
Emily Buchter was fourth across the line, as well, doing so in the 100 meters (13.60).
