Statistics

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Plymouth State used a dominant third quarter to pull away from the University of New England and take home a 15-10 victory in Saturday afternoon's non-conference women's lacrosse matchup on Blue Bolt Field.

In a game of runs, the Panthers (3-0) raced to a 4-0 lead before UNE (1-3) responded with five straight, eventually claiming its only lead of the afternoon early in the second quarter. The Panthers then erupted for seven straight to gain a commanding 11-5 advantage. Plymouth State outscored the Nor'easters 6-1 in the third quarter, and despite a four-goal fourth, UNE was unable to climb back.

Julia Donovan's game-high four goals paced the Panthers, who featured eight different scorers. Jenna Stowell added three, while Elle Moshier and Sammy Murphy contributed two apiece. Stowell also came up with a team-best four groundballs for Plymouth State. Megan Gaspa pulled down seven draw controls to lead both sides.

UNE received three goals from both Morgan White and Barrie Guertin. Sydney Balotin, who collected a game-high five groundballs, scored two goals, as did Emma Collingwood to round out the Nor'easters' scoring contingent.

UNE's early five-goal spurt began with back-to-back White tallies and was capped off by Collingwood's second-quarter goal, giving the hosts a 5-4 lead. Three goals during Plymouth State's ensuing 7-0 run came with an extra attacker.

With Saturday's game marking the end of a two-game home stretch, UNE hits the road on Wednesday, March 12 for a 6 p.m. matchup with Bates.
