BIDDEFORD, Maine --
Jamie DuPont netted an unassisted goal 1:53 into 3-on-3 overtime to give the University of New England women's ice hockey team a 2-1 Conference of New England (CNE) victory over Johnson & Wales University (R.I.) at the Harold Alfond Forum on Friday night (Feb. 14).
The Wildcats momentarily lost control of the puck just outside their own blue line and DuPont raced in between two players to nudge it ahead. She ultimately corralled it on the left side of the low slot, shifted it to her forehand, and flipped it past the glove of JWU goalie Katelyn Cardoso and inside the right post for the walk-off tally
[Watch]. It was DuPont's third goal of the year, and second point of the evening.

The Nor'easters surpass their 2023-24 season overall win total with the result, moving to 11-10-1. UNE (8-6-1 CNE, 24 points) maintains its hold on third place in the league standings, now two points behind Curry College and three ahead of Western New England University, entering Saturday's showdown with the Golden Bears in West Springfield.
The hosts had been less than three minutes from the regulation win, but Kailin Kane found the back of the net for the Wildcats with 2:09 left on the clock. Johnson & Wales (9-12-2, 6-9-1) takes the one point to get to 20, staying in fifth position.
After a scoreless 1st period, UNE led for over 36 minutes once
Adria Tebo got on the board at the 1:16 mark of the middle period. In a flurry of pressure, Dupont and
Danielle McCarthy had shot attempts before Tebo tracked down the puck on the left side and stuck a backhand over the near-side shoulder of Cardoso for her fifth of the season

Kirsten DiCicco put up 22 saves for her fourth win, which included one of her flashier stops in the latter portion of the 1st stanza
