BRISTOL, R.I. -- Second-seeded Roger Williams University scored four times in the opening quarter and finished off a 6-1 decision against third seed University of New England in the semifinals of the 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) Field Hockey Championship at Bayside Field on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 5).
In the rematch of last season's league title game that was deciding in overtime, the Hawks (15-5) advance back to Saturday's championship round. RWU will travel to top seed and national No.8 Endicott College, which needed a penalty stroke in double OTÂ to survive Western New England University.
Chelsea King tallied the last three of the contest for the hosts, following two by Hannah Timbrouck and one from Anna Kruggel over the initial 10:38.
The difference was still four at halftime, and then the Nor'easters (12-9) got on the board 1:29 into the 3rd period when
Kate Kelso converted at the back post for her 10th goal of the season.
Shelly Tremblay received the penalty corner insert on the near side and fed it through the crease to Kelso for the assist.
King came back with two more late in the stanza to put it away, and Hannah Brazil made the last of her four saves in the 4th to hold the margin for the goalkeeping result.
Greta Jennison had one stop in 45 minutes for the visitors, before
Savanna Harvey closed things out. UNE held Roger Williams without shot attempts in both the 2nd and 4th frames.
During the 2025 campaign, the Nor'easters had their highest win total since 2019.
